College Football Playoff Mock Selection Committee Week 9

Crunch time is upon us. This is the first week in which the College Football Playoff Committee will release their Top 25. Ole Miss lost for the first time at Tiger Stadium this weekend. Most experts predicted one of the Magnolia state teams would lose in the final few weeks of the season. Is Mississippi State the next to go down?

Florida State was on a bye and the other top 5 teams found a way to win. All that said, what is your current top 5? Please leave them in the comments below.

#1 Mississippi State Bulldogs (7-0): Undefeated with good wins…were able to defeat a pesky Kentucky team on the road to maintain their top spot.
#2 Florida State Seminoles (7-0): Didn’t want to rank them this high, but with other teams not performing too well I decided to mine else well give credit to their undefeated season.
#3 Auburn Tigers (6-1): The Tigers are still strong and their domination against LSU is continuing to look better.
#4 Georgia Bulldogs (6-1): UGA is on a roll and is pretty much given to win the East Division of the SEC right now.
#5 TCU Horned Frogs (6-1): Leaving Ole Miss & Alabama out is tough, but you gotta include TCU. They scored a school-record of 82 points last Saturday against a decent team, and they deserve to be credited for that. If they were able to hang on to their 21-point lead against Baylor on the road, they would be undefeated right now. It would not surprise me if this powerful team wins the Big 12.

    1) Florida State
    2) Mississippi State
    3) Alabama
    4) Oregon
    5) Auburn

One and two hasn’t changed. SEC West is a beast of a division. I think that two different teams from the SEC West will make it into the playoff barring a massive collapse and upheaval in that division. The B1G and Pac-12 are struggling to keep players in the hunt. If Florida State stumbles down the stretch, the ACC is going to have a hard time placing someone in the mix as well. Overall, the college football landscape is looking very even with very few teams that seem to look significantly better than their counterparts.

    1) Mississippi State – guaranteed at least one loss, do not like the defensive side of the ball

    2) Florida State – the win streak continues in spite of all that swirls around the program.

    3) Oregon – rebounding nicely from only loss so far. Must continue to win convincingly to hold Ala at bay.

    4) Alabama – Here lies the real conspiracy. Win out and we have to listen to and read Saban and Kiffin stories for an extra month

    5) Auburn – Defensive display against SCAR confirmed what made me nervous at MSST. Will be hard to stop.
